Rangpur Training Centre

Project Overview

The Rangpur Training Centre provides vocational and management training for local communities as well as training for IR aid workers. The centre is expanding to cater for the training needs of other development organisations working in the area.

Project Background

The training centre is situated in the remote Mithapukur area in the district of Rangpur. It provides locals with access to vocational training in agriculture, livestock farming and forestry. At the centre, leaders of community organisations also receive training in management and how to run a community organisation.

The training centre also functions as a venue for other aid agencies and government organisations working in the area.  It has a large hall which is used for training workshops, seminars, and conferences. It also has a newly constructed dormitory with capacity for forty people.

The centre is fully equipped with training equipment such as overhead projectors, multimedia equipment, cameras, e-mail facilities, televisions, DVD players, a phone line, a photocopier machine, white boards and a sound system.

Project Objectives

  • To provide vocational and management training for the local community;
  • To provide training facilities for IR staff;
  • To establish a venue for training, meetings, workshops, conferences and seminars with dormitory facilities.

Project Activities

  • Training in agricultural techniques;
  • Training in livestock farming;
  • Management training for heads of community organisations;
  • Residential training facilities for IR aid workers and other aid agencies and government organisations.

Beneficiaries

The project serves around 615 people, and 93% of the beneficiaries are women. This includes people from the community, aid agencies, development organizations and local and central government officials who use training centre as venue.
